What changed for Orks in 11th edition
11th edition is good news for Orks: a broad wave of points cuts brought thirty units down and not a single one up, headlined by a massive drop on the Stompa, while ten new units piled into the range. If you play green, almost everything you own got cheaper, which for a horde army means more bodies and more of the mob on the table for the same total.
Summary
- 40 units repriced, 11 new, 8 unchanged
- Biggest drop: Stompa (-100)
- Biggest rise: Morkanaut (+65)
- Detachment Points: 2 / 3 / 3 at Incursion / Strike Force / Onslaught
Detachments
The Orks gained two detachments, Rollin' Deff and Equatorial Hordes, joining the returning line-up of War Horde, Green Tide, Kult of Speed and the rest. Any of them now costs Detachment Points, 2 for Incursion, 3 for Strike Force, 4 for Onslaught, paid from the same total as the Boyz. Set against the 200 points the Stompa just shed, that fee is a rounding error, but it still comes off the top, so write it down before you count mobs.
New in 11th: Runt Swarm, Shoota Boyz, Wreckas, Madcap Meks, Flyboyz, Brute Bosses, Wurrband. Removed: More Dakka!, Freebooter Krew, Speedwaaagh!.

Points changes
The pattern could not be clearer: thirty units repriced, every one of them downward, alongside ten new additions. The showpiece is the Stompa, slashed from 800 to 600, a full 200 points off, which on its own makes the biggest Ork centrepiece far more list-able. Below it, Mozrog Skragbad drops 145→125, the Battlewagon 160→145, the Beastboss on Squigosaur 110→95, and Breaka Boyz 6@140→6@125. The new arrivals bring fresh options: Boyz (Armageddon) at 10@75, a Warphead at 65, a Hordeboss at 75, and more besides. Some units are priced per squad size, and the table below shows every size.

Frequently asked questions
Did the Orks get better in 11th edition?
On points, without question. Thirty units came down and none went up, so every Ork list costs the same or less than it did at the end of 10th, and a horde faction turns savings straight into models. A Battlewagon, a Beastboss on Squigosaur and a unit of Breaka Boyz save 45 between them, which is not far off another squad of Armageddon Boyz at 75. What the cuts do to win rates is a meta question; what they do to your collection is more Boyz.
What got cheaper for Orks in 11th edition?
Thirty units, and the Stompa is the standout, down 200 points from 800 to 600. The cuts run right through the roster: Breaka Boyz (6@140→6@125), the Beastboss on Squigosaur (110→95), Mozrog Skragbad (145→125) and the Battlewagon (160→145) all got friendlier. Twenty-five more sheets dropped by smaller amounts, so it is hard to find a green datasheet that did not benefit.
How do Detachment Points work for Orks in 11th edition?
The fee doubles from the smallest game to the largest, 2 up to 4, and Rollin' Deff and Equatorial Hordes pay it at the same rate as War Horde or Green Tide. Nothing else in Ork army-building went up this edition, so it is the only line on the sheet that costs more than it did.
What are the new Armageddon units for Orks in 11th edition?
11th edition folds in a batch of ten new datasheets, several themed around Armageddon: Boyz (Armageddon) at 10@75, plus a Warboss (Armageddon) and Gretchin (Armageddon) to lead and pad them out. They are joined by fresh characters, the Warphead, the Hordeboss, the Bigboss and the Bannernob, so there are more ways to build and buff a green tide than the range offered before.
Is now a good time to start an Orks army?
A strong one. The signature big models are cheaper, the Stompa in particular is far more attainable, and ten new units mean more entry points into the range than ever. Orks are also one of the most forgiving armies to learn: buy models, glue them together, throw them forward. Armageddon Boyz at 75 for ten are the obvious first squad. The Starting an Orks Army guide has a buying order.
